11/21/2024 MENTOR logo competition

MENTOR -  EMJM Programme – Methods and Technologies for sustainable Power Generation and Aviation Propulsion
After the successful application for the so-called Deisgn Measures, the Chair works now as coordinator to establish a prestigious joint master programme with international partners (École Centrale de Lyon, Université de Liège, Uniersità di Napoli Federico II, San Diego State University, von Karman Institute for Fluid Mechanics) and support from global industrial stakeholders. A suitable logo, to be used as a unique identifier of this course of study to appear on the programme webpage and any other official documents, including degree certificates, must be created. Calls are open for Students enrolled in any course of study in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to generate such a graphic in the framework of a competition. The logo proposals should be submitted as a power-point document embedding a possibly editable graphic in high resolution (GIF, PNG or JPEG formats are all acceptable as well as pptx graphics), together with full contact details of the authors (name, immatriculation number, RUB-email and phone number) and a short description of what the logo should represent, to: bewerbungen-IE@rub.de with the title “MENTOR logo competition” no later than December, 20th, 2024. The winner will be informed no later than January, 6th, 2025 and awarded a voucher for two people for the Bochum Planetarium. The prize will be awarded during a short ceremony to be held in January and photos and details will be published on the MENTOR-Website (currently under construction). For enquiries and information please email LSTTF@rub.de (only RUB-email addresses with immatriculation number will be considered).

11/18/2024 Tokyo Engineering Summer Education Program 2025

The University of Tokyo is once again offering its Engineering Summer Program in summer 2025. In addition to first-class insights into engineering at one of the world's leading universities, participants will receive a small scholarship and free accommodation on site. The program includes exciting specialist courses, practical sessions and cultural activities. Further information can be found in the attached document.

06/22/2023 The Transition to Green Airports: Examples of EU Green Deal Projects

The EU Green Deal Airport projects are delighted to invite you to a seminar on the transition to green airports on 22 June, from 14:00 to 16:30, in Paris, at the Air & Space Museum, Room Caquot. This seminar is organised as a side event within the 54th edition of the Paris Air Show.

  • OLGA (hOListic Green Airport), uses a holistic approach to develop environmental innovations at airports, to reduce the environmental footprint from passengers, airlines, and neighbourhood perspectives. Airports: Paris-Charles de Gaulle as lighthouse airport with Zagreb, Milan-Malpensa, and Cluj as fellow airports.

  • STARGATE (SusTainable AiRports, the Green heArT of Europe) develops, tests, and implements innovatives olutions to make the airport ecosystem and operations more sustainable and efficient. Airports: Brussels Airport as lighthouse airport with Athens, Budapest, and Toulouse as fellow airports.

  • TULIPS (DemonsTrating lower pollUting soLutions for sustaInable airPorts acrosS Europe) delivers demonstrations in airport operations that accelerate the joined ambitions to reduce emissions and local impact drastically. Airports: Amsterdam Schiphol as lighthouse airport with Oslo, Turin, and Larnaka as fellow airports.

The registration is now open and available in this link.

10/12/2022 - EU-Project at TTF - Consortium develops sustainable aircraft engines

A new engine technology should make air travel possible with a clear conscience.   In the face of climate change, many people now board airplanes with a guilty conscience: emissions of climate-damaging carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels are high. An international consortium wants to change that: The aim of the "MYTHOS" project is to develop aircraft engines that can flexibly use various sustainably produced fuels, up to and including pure hydrogen. The project, called "Medium-range hybrid low-pollution flexi-fuel/hydrogen sustainable engine," will be funded by the European Union for four years starting January 1, 2023. It is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Francesca di Mare, holder of the Chair of Thermal Turbomachinery and Aero Engines at RUB.

10/12/2022 - Exchange with the Tokyo School of Engineering

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Ruhr-University Bochum has an agreement which enables students to exchange with the Tokyo School of Mechanical Engineering. If you want to get more information on this follow this link, Tokyo School of Engineering,  or please contact Prof. Dr. Francesca di Mare or Dr. Holger Grote.
